quick question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
we had one like that. we just made our own brace with a really long bolt and put a metal bar with a hole in it at each end, then used a nut to get it snug.

looked like this

the bars were like 2-3" long

Just replace the brace and you'll be good to go.

Most 55 longs I have seen have this broken center brace. I just picked up a used 55 long with a broken center brace. I have siliconed it together for now.

Can you go into more detail about replacing the brace? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

My grow out tank is a 55... That brace has been gone for yeaarrrssss...
No trouble yet... I fill it to the top w/every water change....

I take this to mean that my silicone job will be good enough (it's cracked in the middle, by the way). Is that a correct assumption?

thanks. i am going to use it for a grow out tank to....i might try some plexiglass and liquid nails to fix it. i filled it up,no leaks but the glass is bowing

plexiglass and pop rivets will be a nice, solid, quick fix. Liquid nails and pop rivets would make it stronger than it was to begin with lol.
