What size are the fish? I transported 5 baby fish in the same familiy as silver dollars from Tennessee to Florida for my brother before. It was supposed to be a 10 hour trip (in the winter with no heat in my truck). I ended up getting a flat in the middle of nowhere, Georgia, and had to spend the night in a hotel. those 1 inch fish were fine by the time i got to florida. It was a 24 hour trip.
They were in a styrofoam beer cooler. I always recomend those (or even plastic igloo or coleman coolers). They are insulated and everything. A battery operated air pump is a good idea.
Just think about how fish are transported to your LFS, I'm sure some of those are in for a long ride, in a small plastic bag.

They'll be fine in the bucket with no extra precautions, fish are shipped via ups and sit in bags at swap meets all the time
I have three black bar silver dolllars that were about that size and I picked them up in a coleman cooler w/battery operated airstone. They were in my truck for 18 hours and they were fine. Just be aware THEY SPOOK EASILY! Make sure that bucket is covered always. The red hooks are really cool fish you will enjoy them. They will be fine!
