It probably doesn't, unless he set it really low on the filter, which might cause the wheel to bump into the glass tops (assuming he has any).

One of my AC 110s cracked and I didn't think it was worth fixing, now I have a reason to keep them.

No, the lid doesn't fit on it anymore, but I never put the lids on any of my ACs to begin with...as great a filter as they are, the one design flaw is that the plastic lid warps and almost inevitably will vibrate and make noise, so I don't even bother putting it on.
