We went on vacation for 6 days and left Shamu alone. The quiet time seems good for his nuchal hump. We came back a week ago and it's gone down some but is still larger than when we left.

Click on the photos for a better picture.

He gets excited when the camera comes out and the lights go off so he has to stir up the crap in the tank and work on his pea gravel mountain. It's probably 8-10" high right in the front middle of the tank.

And a shot of him attacking the glass, just thought it was a little different.

Probably a sibling to mine then. He came from Jeff Rapps a year ago this month. He used to look like in my avatar.

its crazy how they change color mine tend to develop black around his face then the nect day he doesnt have it....... i hope mine turns out similiar to yours.....

His fin extensions just keep getting longer and longer! I really like the dark colors of the tank and gravel. It really makes your Midas' color pop. I don't have dark gravel but I do have a black background on one of my tanks. I'm glad that Shamu continues to grow and impress.

impressive guy Jamie, makes me want one.

He's a lot of fun Joe. I've never done a single specimen tank before and he's a lot more personable than I would have thought. Still has lots of growing and maturing too. Doesn't hurt that he's in the living room, everyone who comes over loves how he tries to attack them.

My tank really isn't that dark, the overhead flash just blacks everything out. I use natural Home Depot pea gravel ($3 for 60lbs...) and have quite a bit of lighting on the tank with a black background, a couple logs and a big rock.

No idea. But any time we leave for a few days his hump is bigger when we get back. No food, no lights, no people = larger hump on him for some reason.

He's always been a weird fish.
