Hey MFK,

I got my first Tigrinus a few days ago and I'm stoked cause I've always wanted one. He is in my 40 gallon breeder, with a jardini of equal size, 5". I've tried feeding bloodworms and small pieces of shrimp. The Jar takes it all, catfish won't bite it. Any advice? He's a catfish, shouldn't he have eaten by now? Lol. I'm not seriously worried, just wondering if there's anything I should try. Thanks!

Try feeding at night with the lights off. I fed mine nightcrawlers, then shrimp, now shrimp and massivore.

I did that the past 2 nights and no dice. He doesn't even nip at it. Dropped shrimp right on his face. Nothing. He sits next to the air stone all day and night haha.

They are not bright when little , i got my first tig about 3 months ago at 3 inches, kept him swimming in guppies for the the first month, now takes krill blackworms red wigglers and some massivore, but like strollo said they have a very small strike zone and bad aim.

Try red wiggler worms.

the jar with definitely out compete the tig for the food.

I say guppies. Lots. Put them in at night and the tig should eat well. I have one that I got at 3" and is now 6". He is still a very dim bulb when it comes to finding food. Good luck. My experience includes plenty of frustration. I have heard 8" is the magic mark when they seem to get a little brighter regarding feeding. Does anyone have an opinion on that?

I have a 4" Lei in with mine. If the food makes it to the bottom, it is safe from him for the most part.
