Quick Tigrinus Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I say guppies. Lots. Put them in at night and the tig should eat well. I have one that I got at 3" and is now 6". He is still a very dim bulb when it comes to finding food. Good luck. My experience includes plenty of frustration. I have heard 8" is the magic mark when they seem to get a little brighter regarding feeding. Does anyone have an opinion on that?

Never had a tig but they're very similar to Juruensis. My Jur wouldn't eat unless it hit him in the head, even at 8" lol

I appreciate the info guys, but I'm trying to stay away from feeders. Most local shops around here have potential to introduce something to my tank. And the 40 is the same water as my 300 so I have other fish I'd rather not endanger. I don't think with the jar ill have any problem getting them both fully fed. Once the tig starts eating of course. I will try red wigglers tomorrow!

Feed more food if the jardini is eating it all. He was eating black worms and krille. I would even try massivore. Not a shock that a tig wont eat for a few days after transfering. He was fat.

LMAO

I would agree with Rodger though, 8" seems to be the ticket for these guys.

Stop beating around the bush, give him guppys or small minnows. I've never had a problem with live feeders. Yeah don't do it if you can clearly see they have problems like ich. But every person I have talk to have given their tig feeders intill they are big enough to eat shrimp. And most likely the people that say theirs eats frozen foods or pellets have waited to the point were their tigs on the edge of death were they would even eat their own s**t if it was laying around. Those that say other wise and are going to give me hate mail, you know it. My tigs grown over 3 in he's since I've had him at 3 inches and is thick and healthy.
