Someone else maybe able to answer this better than me,but unless your PH is extremely high(test it after it has sat out for 24 hours),I would not worry about lowering it.

, fish will do well in any PH as long as it is not terribly low or high. Ph is not that important btw. My ph is always 6.5 and i can't get it up but my fish are still thriving.I have many bichirs in ultra hard water with a PH of 8.3 currently.
