I got my tank all plumbed up and ready to run Fri. I bought this stuff second hand from a guy who had never filled the tank and the pumps were still in box. I found the original recepit from July 2010 where he had purchased 2 Quiet One 9000s from DrsFsterandSmith.com. I plugged the first one in and it rattled like crazy and seemed not to flow any water. So, I read on the net a little about how ppl had gotten bad pumps. Unhooked it, put the other 9000 in the tank, turned it on and it rattles and bangs and turns on and shuts off. Anyone know what may be going on? Or am I missing something?

Muffy- I got a really good deal on this setup so it does suck, but nit as bad if I had paid new price for them. Thank you

Jeep-'I'm really thinking about running to Rio 32hf. I have a 14hf and 26hf and I love both. I'm gonna have a read on the link. Thank you

My 6000 did this after a while. Unplugged it for a wc, plugged it back in and rattle rattle rattle. Did this for about 6 months, went to take it apart to clean it and broke the shaft. Replaced shaft then pump blew a breaker a month later and never worked again. I just kept unplugging and plugging it back in until it stopped rattling until it died.

Best of luck to you. What that thread doesn't show is that a couple months later, the 14000's motor seized. Thats when I abandoned ship with pentair and went to mag drive.

Man, that really sux! I just threw both of my 6000's into the bathtub plumbed up with check valves and 6' of flex hose to see how the volume was. The loudest thing about it so far is the tub itself resonating. Hopefully mine won't have the same fate as yours. Time will tell.....maybe a rio or magdrive is in my future after all.

Good luck with sorting it all out!

That really is too bad jeep. Just curious, how is the mag drive on electric bill? My rios are perfectly quiet and easy on the pocket. Plus I found them online for about $85

Hmmm... I'm really not sure. I have three big tanks, reptiles, and a pool, so my electric bill is ridiculous anyway. That was back in '07 when I was messing with the Q1's. I can't remember what the difference was when I switched.
