Quiet One Aquarium Pump 4000

I have the same one running my algea scrubber. Couldn't be more impressed with it.

Call and complain dude, get a brand new one.

Hmm, I've been running 4x quiet one 4000's for several years (submerged) and I've never heard a peep from them. The only time they've ever made noise is when I first put them in, and I was getting vibration from the pump against the glass bottom of the sump. I rearranged a little and it disappeared.

Is there room to run it submerged in your system, or can it only be set up as an external pump how you're using it?

Nothing seems wrong with the impeller or shaft.

You'd be amazed at how small a defect can be and what it can cause. would call lifegard and get a replacement.

The impeller/shaft could be off balance, causing it to vibrate like hell, or make lots of noise.

And if thats the case, you wont have to worry about noise for too long, because it will just stop working.

I was going to buy one of these for my salt water sump but now I'm not so sure.
