they loose alot of gph with head. I bought a 4000 (1000gph) and when i put it on my tank, i got about 750gph out of it. i was very dissapointed

that is your fault for not doing research, I got the Q1 4000 knowing that I would see around 700 gph on my 220...

I havent had a problem with my pump and it is very quite.

Thats what your going to see with any pump. The 1000 GPH rating is a ZERO head. Ofcourse your going to loose flow as you increase head to 3-4 feet.

Exactly...what do people look at when they buy a pump?
the rated gph is only a common starting point, If you are not looking at the flow curve, you might as well close your eyes and feel if the pump is right...

Here is one thing I have noticed about the quiet ones. If you are pushing them up steep inclines, they will run great. But if you shut them off, then will sieze up and you will have to wait out the pump. I have to switch from my 5000 to my 4000 or from the 4000 to 5000 every time I turn them off. Of course, I am pumping the water somewhere in the neighborhood of 7.5' to 8' straight up. lol
