Chantix isn't a Anti-Depressant medication. It's a medication that aids those who want to quit smoking. But you also need will power to quit. I don't think you can quit cold turkey after 21 years of smoking. If I couldn't quit cold turkey after 5 years of smoking, there is no way you can with your 21 years of smoking. Give Chantix a try!

My father quit smoking cold turkey...

after 28 years of smoking, two or three years clean. He's also quit drinking right now. Instead of drinking a bottle/cask of wine a night he drinks ginger beer.

Are you a pharmaceutical rep? Everyone is different! Some have more will power than others and can quit without meds. How do you think people quit before the invention of the "patch" and all of the stop smoking meds?

the trick to quitting is smoke all you want... but you have to eat each butt.. chew it till its gone.. no swallowing them whole.. also you have to put them out on yer arm...

Its quite funny you say that...cause My friends had told me after each cigarette put it out on my arm and it will be the last pack I smoke. Here picture evidence that it doesnt work at all. This scar is from trying to quit this way, its a whole pack put out on my arm about a month ago. I was quite pissed at them when all it did was leave a scar.

I wrote I <3 mfk just so you know I didn't steal the pic online.

Call me stupid if you like, I was really trying to stop then and I couldnt do it....

but for years i have been in an ongoing battle to try to get my grandparents to stop smoking.
our tactics were kinof harsh though, we really didnt want them to keep doing it.
we showed them pictures of organs affected by smoking...etc etc
but very simply: if you dont want to do something, its easier to not do if it takes longer. eg i think its hard for someone who smokes to not take the 20 seconds to light a cigarette, but easier to not take the 20 minute walk to the store.
think about it...

Im not a smoker BUT Ive also heard from many of my ex-smoker friends that Chantix works wonders, if anything you could ask your doctor about it, doesnt mean you have to try it, just become informed on the drug before you make your decision.

Good Luck!
