Quit smoking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm trying to quit now, not just smokes, but drinking, so everything sucks. The patches help me not strangle my kids or dogs, but there are times when I just want to bag it and run down to drink and smoke my face off. I love drinking and smoking, the absence of both of them has me on a hair trigger. Good luck buddy, I'm with you in the struggle. Every one we avoid is a win.
Hang in there, man. It gets easier. Haven't had a drink since 10/16/2010, so it can be done!

Hello; While it may not be news and may be something already known, I can decsribe the very gruesome way my father and my stepfather suffered during the last few years of their lives. If it can be of help in motovation I can describe some of the details.

Knowing what I do about coffin nails. I believe if someone held a gun to my head and threatened to shoot me if I did not smoke, that I would have to seriously think about it. Even after 37 years of being quit, the fear of getting hooked again is strong.

Whatever stage of suffering while quitting you are in at any moment will pass. If you give in then you will have that stage to face again the next time you attempt to quit.

good luck

I quit years ago, and I did it by switching to cigars only when I gave in (which I didn't really care for) and temporarily switched to tea from coffee. Coffee and beer were triggers for me. And I liked my coffee a lot.

The desire is always there but it decreases every month... years later I still crave it the odd time when I drink but just don't give in.
