Hi Hi =^_^=

I know using R/O water is the best but....
I was wonder if there is a way to use tap water..
(Chlorine, Metals, and Aglea Blooming Fun.. Oh Mys =D) treated with something like Prime or passing it using a britta filter, for places that can not have access to R/O Water. Distiled water from bottles or or something? Water thats been treated with prime since it converts ammmonia to a non-toxic form(though itz still present), Nitrates and nitrates in tap water, chlorine, harmfull most harmfull metals in the water and then let it sit for a week? Of course partial water changes will still be done =D Fun Fun! so the bad stuff in the conditioned tap water can still be removed.

I suggested starting a saltwater tank to a friend of mine, but the only thing is that she does not have access or a source nearby to get R/O water.

I was wondering if there was an alternative to this. (Besides from buying an expensive R/O Unit =>.>= lol) If so answers would be of great help for me to help my friend. =^___^=

Distilled water works....although its not the best as its treated through copper....RO Units dont really cost that much, and they will save you money and time in the long run....I dont feel that using products such as prime et cetera and britta filters are good enough....but, this is just my opinion....

eeek copper! there goes the risk with the Invertabrates lol =D. Hmm Maybe i can convince my friend to invest in an R/O unit before starting a tank, or something. Well thanks thanks Reefscapre Person Mod Sir =^___^=

even a basic 2 stage system would be more then plenty if its a case of cost and size. running a 2 stage vs a 6 stage has its obvious differences but i wouldnt worry much about them. Installation would be just as easy and you will have a lower GPD rating then on larger systems.

I got a used Kent 4-stage for $50. Look at Ebay, the Used Equipment forum or local reef forums at Reef Central.

You can attach it to your faucet & remove when done. I split my faucet with a Y connector, so I don't have to remove it (it's in my basement).

If you order from DFS, you can get 6% off by signing up at www.ebates.com & an extra $5 rebate by giving them my email as a referal: luluwonderdog at yahoo dot com.
