Raiamas Guttatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just arrived from tuic. I will get pictures and better video with the lights on tomorrow.
Nice pick up, I have a couple coming to me as well. How's yours doing? I don't know how they are regularly but he looked like he was breathing pretty heavy. I only ask because I know they need lot's of oxygen so I want to make sure I'm prepared with plenty of surface agitation.

He was breathing heavily at first but seems to be breathing normal now. He is eating great and eats literally any food I put in the tank, also very fun to watch eat as he goes after the food so aggressively.
Good stuff bro, I'm glad he's doing so well. I had a feeling it was shipping stress or something since I figured you video him the first day. So do you have any powerheads going? Or is he okay without them?

Got 2 airstones for extra oxygen and have a fx6 which gives pretty good flow in the tank

Thanks for the info. And sorry I thought I had liked your response when I read it Sunday.

Gotta say these guys are surprisingly aggressive at least upon release or maybe my 135 I put them in is too small. Cause these guys are chasing each other pretty vigorously and they're spreading the wealth to my Falcifiers and Tiger SD's. They haven't damaged one another and I hope it calms down. Great fish though, like liquid lightning and they have some decent sized mouths on them.

Mine occasionally chases the apollo shark, though I assume that's because it chased the Raiamas when it was first introduced. Other than that it doesn't really chase anyone and actually sometimes gets chased by my Filament Barb and Garra sp. (I think they're gotyla but all I know is they are about 5" TL). It's already eating krill and bloodworms out of my hand, though sometimes it seems to think my finger is the food. It does seem to be food aggressive as mine will push other fish out of the way if it means getting more food, though I tend to also defrost some food and have the current spread it out so everyone still gets food. It's in my 150 gallon that's half filled as I have lots of plants growing above the water line with their roots in the water, but the front is still pretty open for swimming.

Kind of wish I got a group so I could try to figure out spawning them.

Never heard of these before. How interesting, has an incredibly interesting build.

Then there must be something triggering aggression in mine because they're still at it. While I see no damage the largest chases the two smaller a lot and he's still chasing my Falcifier, Tiger SD's and now my juvy Creni Atabapo II. Lol They swim quick with open mouth and snap at each other but don't seem to be hurting each other. Doesn't stop the other fish from being intimidated though.

It's cool that yours is doing well and already handfeeding. I haven't tried but they definitely know I'm a food source as they immediately come to the side of the tank waiting to be fed.
