Some people living in Colorado Springs wondered why their rain water barrel was almost empty every day. They set up a couple of cameras and caught this ----

Nice! Yes, they are common in certain areas where they are concentrated like around the Appalachian Mountains particularly The Great Smoky Mountains. Also concentrated out west in the Rockies.
