Sorry, I didn't answer your question. I believe it is a male. He's only about 3".
I've been wondering about these guys - do they do best with a group, or are they ok in pairs? Aqadvisor tells me that they need at least 8 to live happily but that does not sound right to me... Perhaps an administrator on the page has gotten Rainbow Cichlids confused with Rainbowfish? Either way, nice looking fish, thanks for sharing
