Is this common? The chin of my hi fin, which is normally tan, woke up this morning to find it is a kind of ashen grey. Checked water params, they were fine (I do a WC every Monday and Thursday), and he did just move to a 40 ga ga w/ my ornate while my 70 is being remodeled a couple days ago. Is this from stress? Or do their faces just get darker?

I've been looking at adult reds for a while now, is this just a sign of age? or a variant of the regular hi fin? ill post pics when I'm out of work, if he can stay still for me haha

My puffer used to just be moody like that, but I've never had wolf fish so lets wait for some to chime in

I would most definitely call him a "moody" fish, sometimes he acts like a puffer, fluttering and watching what I'm doing, then he goes and hides in the dense plant like bichir and that's usually where I see him being dark

My wolves change shades quite a bit. Some times they are light grey, some times they are darker, and some times partcularly when stressed they are sploched.

Sounds normal. Pics can confirm.

I will take a pic next time he is like that, he isn't right now, pretty light just lurking in the floating veg.

Thanks for the input guys, will update with the pic when I see it again, was worried it may have been super stressed or something bad. I'm paranoid about stress on my fish haha my friends who keep fish say I'm too worried about it.. probably but better be safe then sorry with your pets

Aha! Finally got him before I'm about to do a water change, his other colors don't really change much from when his chin is dark, it literally is just his chin
