I am looking forward to getting one myself! this one in the picture below!!!:headbang2 is this a High Fin Wolf? Why does it look different though? Does the colouration and body pattern change as they grow? Or is this the Rainbow Wolf fish? I find it very attractive.

That's an Erythrinus erythrinus not sp. "peru". It looks similar to mine except that one in the pic you posted looks pretty torn up and its caudal peduncle is twisted.

Cool, and that's true what you said about the fish, it looks a little messed. Can you post a picture of your Wolf fish? I would really love to see.:)

Hi I keep it in a very overgrown planted tank as it seems to exhibit its best colours that way but I'll see what I can do over the weekend :)

That's cool and thank you very much!

well I had one.. awesome fish. mine jumped out of my tank right when I moved him out of the 36 to 75.. out of a tiny hole.. so they will jump. He wasn't real real aggressive.. but would occasionally chase after fish, or when a fish would bully him he would do it right back.. but he didn't kill anything, beautiful fish though. I believe they get around 6" to a foot correct me if I'm wrong.. thats all for now =) i've got to go

did you have your Rainbow/Hi-Fin Wolf fish living with other tank mates? If so, what kinds of other fish did you have it with?

Hey Jelly!!! I'll be getting my Ery. sp. Peru soon man! I can't wait. I'm pretty sure I'll pick him up next weekend. I like the Ery. sp. Peru better because of their eye coloring. Ever think of picking up an Ery. ery to add to your wonderful collection of small predators? ;)

PLUS, all you need is a Nandus nebulosos to have all the Nandus species! :) If you only lived near philly, my LFS has two 1inchers that are taking down bloodworms.

Also, at what temps do you usually keep Rainbows? 75-80*F ?

I will be getting an Ery. Ery. when I have moved house, Got to set up my fish house then I'll have the room. I am intending on getting a group to see if I can get a pair to breed. 'Risky'

Nandus are really great little predators, Nile perch for small tanks. There is another 'prolixus' is very close to nebulosos and oxyrhynchus is another. I do intend to complete the collection. I have had them for a little while now and tried all the tricks to get them of live with no success. These guys have huge mouths and can take down huge prey (relative to there size of course).

Risky indeed! I'm trying to get an Erythrinus Peru sp. but I'm gonna stop by George's (Shark Aquarium) this weekend and pick the most active and responsive Rainbow he has; Peru sp. or not I could care less anymore :p I just want the most bad ass Ery. I can get my hands on for the best price.

I'd love to put any Erythrinus species into my small predator tank, but I just don't know how it would react with the rest of the fish. I'm sure my Congo tetras would be eaten and I love my Nandus and Ctenopoma too much to risk their lives :)

I have not heard of Nandus 'prolixus' or 'oxyrhynchus' before! That's gonna be one awesome species collection!! Do you think my Nandus^2 would eat smaller Nandus nebulosos if I introduced them into the tank?
