It's no wonder. Lobsters have been aquacultured for decades for seeding collection areas all over the northeast coast. Aquaculture has altered mortality rates immensely (nature=~2%/aquaculture=~80% survival rate). Young lobsters are released as 'walkers' instead of free-swimming larvae. All this means that there are more lobsters in their ranges and this means that more color variants can survive to be found in traps as sub-adults or adults.
Speaking of oddball lobsters, ...how about a half and half color morph that's also a hermaphrodite?
