rainbow trout are native to the americas so way do they stock them in are rivers in scotland , uk .

how does this not mess with the eco system ?

well i belive its in sertain areas there area more trout then is need so they take them and to other place in usa in neeed of trout, in your case they most likly have hactries in your area to stock them. they shouldn't through off the eco system thet much becase i know you guys have some types of trout and samon. but i'm not an expert.

If they're not native over there maybe they're stocking them as game fish.
As far as the eco system, I'd guess it probably does mess with it somewhat as introducing any other fish would.
States stocking some non-native fish here has had consequences for the ecosystem also. What consequences I don't know, I wasn't even aware they stocked rainbow trout over there.

They stocked rainbow trout here as a game fish because a lot of people like to fish for trout, there's even a breeding population in one of the rivers near here, but they're not native to this state.

bad speller, like they have simlar trout in uk like rainbow trout, idk if he thinks there taking trout from usa or what ,but it shouydln't through it off becase of the simlar trout they have

this is what i meant to say i'm bad with puting things into words

They have over there what we call the brown trout. It is not native to the USA, but they stock them over here in the US (just like how they stock rainbows over in Europe)

Salmo trutta is the scientific name of the brown trout.

It is done because early in the 1900s wealthy sportsmen lobbied to have it done as many trout streams had already been overfished. Yes it does mess up the ecosystem. Here in the USA many small, non-game fish populations have been damaged or even wiped out by introduced trout, bas, or bluegill.

Trout have wipe out some types of galaxia species in NZ and other endemics in USA
