Rainbowfish or red tail barracuda,FL gar

Cant make a fish allways swim... my Florida gar will chill on the bottom or top of tank all the time. Swims around when it wants too... If you want a more active fish get soem silver dollars or somethjing you like idn lol.
 
It's just my lfs said rainbows would do fine with my fish??and honestly I can't tell in the growth on my cuda????
