I noticed he might have been orienting himself weird this morning but I thought he also might have been trying to eat.

I came home and started a water change and noticed he really has a swim bladder issue. Was swimming upside down.

I fed frozen mysis today and nls float, nls red and some nls thera a yesterday along with sinking wafers (wide variety bc two containers we're almost empty )

I'm going to do more.research but in the middle of the water change. No other fish are acting differently. Tank was due for a water change today so nitrates were about as high as I'd let them get (20-30ppm). Tank has been going with current stock for at least ten months.

I have a quarantine tank. I'm thinking of moving him there but it just been sitting with rotting food for a few weeks to keep bacteria alive. Obviously I'd do a water change there first.

What can I do? I read in my brief research that I can try Epson salts. Another link said fasting or high fiber foods.

Thanks for any help.and I'll researchore when I'm done changing water.

Epsom salt and kanamycin. Lower the water level so it can sit on the bottom and stay upright.

I finished rinsing Soo he's so I'm waiting for ta k to fill. Fish obviously has swim bladder but he's orienting himself better now. Not upside down. I have to drain the QT tank bc it was.full of rotting food. I'm not sure if it's.better to QT or leave him in main. QT tank is 10g.with sponge filter.that should still be cycled. More room here in 125g

I guess you typed that ad I made second reply. I have Kanaplex that should still be good so I'll do that and Epson salt. I also have General Cure and Erythromycin if that would help later.

How much Epson salt? Seen different recommendations. Thanksm

1 tbsp per 5g.

1 tbsp per 5g.
Thanks. I just found an old post of yours that I was gonna link for others.in the future. Thanks for the quick responses.

Epsom salt is preferred for swim bladder/bloat disease at a 1 tbsp per 5g. Usually gotta add a broad spectrum antibiotic with it. Hard to say for ur fish and tank. Would suggest posting in the fish disease section.

He's all moved over. I keep checking my Dority rainbowfish in main tank just to make sure I moved.the correct one over. I know I did but I keep looking.

It seems that without the current present in the main tank he's okay so the water is up to the top.of the 10g so there's more room to.dilute wasted (though I need double the meds as it's two measured per every 5 gallon).

He's dosed with the two tbsp of Epson salt and the one dose of Kanaplex. I'm not sure how to tell when/of he gets better bc I wouldn't even know that there was something wrong with him if I hadn't seen him in main tank.

I hope he makes it as I saw how big he is when I moved him.

I got back home after being out for awhile. He's staying upright but now it's obviously he does have an issue bc he has to work to stay upright.
He hasn't flipped over or been verticle.after watching for ten minutes.

Does it help to lower water so he used.less.energy staying upright or is that only for when they can't stay oriented properly?

Less water pressure.

Just posting this on case anyone has similar concerns. I was trying to figure out how I was gonna do water changes on a lower water level and dose meds.

I lowered it to a little over 5 gallons, which as low as I could go and have bubbles still come out the top of the sponge filter. To make things easier I'll probably water change by filling to the top. I'll dose 1 tbsp Epson salt. Then I'll drain back down to 5 gallons after a few mins after salt is completely dissolved. Then I'll dose the Kamacyn.

I also put a towel over the front of the tank bc fish would get agitated when people walked by. Now that it's covered , I can see he doesn't react now when people walk by.

Fish pooped a little overnight. I'll water change as indicated above and refuse the meds Monday night.

I read some other threads that talked about fasting for 3 days and then trying mushed shelled peas. I'm try the fast and then read more about that tomorrow.
