What is the best way to raise a flowerhorn, to get the colors out of him/her??? Or is that just
genetics??? Right now I have 8 in a 125 to grow out untill I deside who I will keep. I feed mine 3 to 4 times a day. and keep my temp at 82, and do three 50+ % water changes a weak. I feed with Hikari gold, Dainichi color supreme , Wardley's cichlid, earth worms, shrimp, magits, crickets, spiders, and any other bug i may find :) There growing fast I have some that are showing good color and some that I can see the pink or red on half there bodys but there color isen't very strong. Please All tips for raiseing Flowerhorns.. TKS

a friend of mine who breeds FHs isolates them in single aquariums, they are fed with color and Kok enhancers everyday. every morning, he feeds them shrimps and prawns.

hes got about a thousand fries in his 120 G about 2-3 " lenght. he has this slotted aquariums where he grows seected fries. he got this single batch and what he does is to grow the isolated ones fast and seells them when they reach 5-7 inches long. after selling the larger ones, he takes some from the large tank and isolates them in the slotted tanks. the cycles goes again.

the gap when i saw the fries in the large tank versus the ones isolated was so large, the ones isolated are full colored large Koked while the ones on the large tank are dark, less pearls and relatively small.

How big are the 8 that you have right now? Fish change color when they are stressed. Buy some Alife or New Life spectrum to feed them. Chingmix and Amazone are good too. I'm feeding mine Alife, HBH Super Soft w/ Krill, Ken's Premium Cichlid Pellets, and Ken's Soft and Moist w/ Krill. I'm no pro though... :D

Good size tank yes colors are with genetics too but you should have good water and space too as for your tank size it's good for 2 adult size fh's assuming you divided your tank one of the best food to feed them is ching mix a little expensive though it brings out the kok and good colors specially if it's in their genes, don't over feed them or power feed them yes it might make them big faster but you shorten their lives too 2x is enough.

Depending on what you're trying to do with them.. that tank size can be good for 3 or 4 flowerhorns.. divided
Right now I have 8 in a 125 to grow out untill I deside """who all I will keep""" I'm not looking to have A 10 as far as looks go just yet. But I would like to have an 8 :naughty::naughty: Then I want to try, too cross breed to a carpintas/blue texas, red devil, texas/ gray. to See if I can come up with a 10 :) Because Paying 1200 $$ or more to have a 10 is NUTS :screwy:for a working class man like me. I JUST want a bad as* looking fish for my self again ya Know what I mean :headbang2

Here 's a ? for ya.. Don't Ya think growing them up with tankmates will be better than in a tank alone if ya know there going to have tankmates when thay are grown. I dont like just haveing one fish in a tank. I think growing them up alone makes them very very
aggressive
to other fish. There allready
aggressive
I'm not trying to bring up KILLERS. I want them to be able to share a tank. So anyway, I have other tank mates in with them for now...... 2 JD's , 2 Rd's 2 Rt's, 2 cons,2 cats 2 pleco's,3 carpintas. Just so ya know I have 6 empty tanks For when I need to move some one out..
