Hey Guys a pair of my fish have eggs and I was wondering the steps on raising the eggs/fry without their parents. The eggs(laid today) are currently in my 100g that I must take down by Friday. I have a friend who is taking the parents until I earn my tank back, but I am wondering if I moved fry to 30g that has other fish in it would they all be eaten? Also, if I kept one parent to put in the thirty would it(Salvini) still take care of the fry?

why do you have to "earn your tank back"? if it is being sold, maybe your friend will take the eggs too, but if you are just tearing it down to move it or something like that, I would just wait to do it until they are free swimmers. but no matter what, good luck!

if you move eggs they must stay wet.it would be best to try to wait till they hatch.move as wigglers,or free-swimming.they would probably be eaten if others are in the smaller tank.if you moved 1 parent they might protect them or eat them.

You can remove the object the eggs are laid on, to a small separate unoccupied tank, and place an airstone near the eggs to mimic the parents fanning the eggs. Some people add a drop of methylene blue to prevent fungus from growing on the eggs. After they hatch, they will not need to be fed for a few days while they use up their yolk sacs, when they start to swim, they will need to be fed small amounts multiple times per day. Do lots of small partial water changes. I allow plenty of algae to grow in my fry tanks for constant grazing.
