Hello everyone!

To get right into things, my atya gabonensis (cameroon armoured shrimp/vampire shrimp) the other day had babies! I have two in a community fish tank, and saw one of the gouramies eating something. On closer inspection there were around 200-400 larvae like things floating in the current flicking away and being eaten. Then i noticed one of my two vampire shrimp stand up on some roots, and "flap" her under body, with what seemed like a little flap that was fanning rapidly.

I dont know if this has ever been achieved before, I've read a few sites saying breeding in captivity hasn't. I only have the two, and have done nothing special, so its 100% luck on my part. No pics I'm afraid, i tried, but the camera only focused on the glass, not the tank (any way to stop this?)

Is there any way to raise these planktonic fry? I know that salt water is involved... Would it be right to assume in the wild, the babies would be washed downstream into the sea, survive there until they are little shrimps, then make their way back up stream (so gradually lower the salt content).

Any tips/info/guides/similar post links would be appreciated!

I know that mnay have had the larvae hatch as you have, but I don't know of anyone who has successfully raised up the larvae into shrimp. I was unable to find links to share with you on how to try, though I would imagine it could be similar to that of amano shrimp. here is a link to breeding those, though its also very difficult but its a start of info for you:
