Rams Horn Snails

I met someone through a yahoo group that I am in that is giving away rams horn snails that she is pulling out of her tank, and I was curious if these snails "bred with themselves". The reason I'm asking is because i don't want to have to worry about my tank being overrun with these if i just get one of them
thanks

Howdy,

a) I don't think they can reproduce by themselves. Which does not mean that they cannot already be inseminated

b) those guys eat plants like nothing else. If you have any plant in your tank, it's doomed.

c) to control a snail population: feed your fish only as much as they can eat. Snails proliferate when they have excess food. An alternative is to keep a loach.
