My pair of German Blue Rams lay their eggs, but after like 1 day they both eat all the eggs...HELP...what did i do wrong the temp. is at like 80 and ph is like around 6 lot of cave and some plants in my 75g. Does anyone know what went wrong?

Sometimes it takes a few trys for them to get it right don't worry yet.

Blue rams have a pretty bad rap as parents. They don't always take the best care of the eggs. I've bred wild rams and they seem to do fine. Sometimes it takes a few tries for them to get it right, but this is the case with a lot of young cichlid parents. I had a pair of koi angels that a breeder swore to me would never parent-raise. He let them try twice and they didn't get it right, so he started pulling the eggs and raising them artificially. I left the pair alone and after 12 tries (LOL) they stopped eating the eggs and started raising fry on their own. So sometimes patience is key. I'm sure there are exceptions where it never works, though. I know people with cichlids that are habitual egg eaters.

Your temperature seems a little low for GBR. Usually people keep them at 84 - 85F.

idk but the eggs did change color haha then they eat them...and yea they are youg pair just about 6 mouth old.

Like I said, they don't always take the best care of their eggs. Some do on the first try. Some never get it right. It really just depends on the fish.

Personally, for young pairs, I like to give them a few tries if they don't get it right the first time. Half the fun of cichlid-keeping for me is watching parents with fry.

Redfestae, they should be well into breeding age. Rams only live a couple years. What color did the eggs turn?

they change into like a yellow/white a day later after the female lay the eggs...and i think the egg got bigger from when they layed it too.

If they're yellow or white instead of a clear amber color, they're dead. Fertile eggs will be a clear amber/golden color and then darken after a couple days as the black eyes of the fry become visible. Either the male isn't fertile or he didn't do his job properly. Or maybe you have two females?
