looks fat and or gravid, or parasite loaded, cut it open and tell us what you find.
if pregnant, it could have been chased by other males attempting to spawn and stressed it out and died.

That is just my loaches in general. They are all very fat.
The only thing I can think of is heat. It is summer here and the temp was up today.
