Thought I would share some of these random shots that I caught. I go to this one spot a lot and there is a dolphin pod that has made a home there. I kind of just randomly point and shoot at them hoping I ll catch something. Sometime I am doing something else and they like to put on a show and I attempt to get something. The quality is not so great but I have fun with it so I thought I would share some of the random shots I caught.

I think the real question is....Do fishermen bother them?

Ive got some pics around somewhere of an albino porpise. I took them about 20 miles off the oregon coast last year. Was pretty wicked looking.

Awesome shots!

Do they bother fishermen?

Hell yeah they do. When flipper moves through its time to take a seat and drink a beer. They scare all of the fish off and will even grab your fish or bait off your hook. They NEVER will bite the hook though, they know not to.

I see dolphins/porpoise every day but rarely do they jump like that. I wonder why?

At this spot the dolphins will bother the fishermen by taking the fish off the hook - it actually happened to me... I was mad lol. The fishermen know better then to bother the dolphins there - that would be asking for trouble. The location of this place is also inside a state park =] It is really pretty.

These dolphins while they do chase the fish and the fish obviously run from them - the fish do not run from the pier they still hang around the pier and you can still catch plenty of stuff even with the dolphins present.

As for why they are jumping there could be for a number of reasons. It could be a socialization thing, it could be because things are attached to their skin that they do not like (remoras attach to dolphins, not just sharks and spinner dolphins for example are believed to spin with the physical force that they do to fling the remora off), It could be for play. I am not really sure why they are doing it though.

sweet pics ash, thanks for sharing
