So 3 days ago now I purchased a group of 7 (guy charged me for 8 without my knowledge...) cories. 5 were skunk cories and 2 were bandit cories. I didn't notice the difference at first. Well anyway when I went to put them in the tank one of them had died. Without ever making it to the tank. Throughout the day 2 more died. The 4 that were left looked horrible and I knew they were gonna die by morning. You know what I'm gonna say
so I'm not even gonna say it. I tested the parameters before adding them and my ammonia was a bit high at 1ppm. I did a roughly 50% water change to bring it down before I added them.
The tank is a 55 gallon and it contains the following.
A mated pair of angelfish, non aggressive.
1 african leaf fish
10-12 cories with half of them being bronze and the other half being albino.
1 rainbow shark
1 bristlenose pleco
1 emperor pleco
? kuhli loaches
3 african butterfly fish
4 bumblebee catfish.
I might be forgetting one or two.
I also have a couple of fish that are in here for a grow out or for other reasons so they're only temporary.
1 senegal/marbled bichir (not sure which)
1 sun catfish

A day after the last cory I found one of my bumblebee catfish dead, could this be related?

Did you have the Corydoras shipped to you?

No, I just so happened to get them from petco. I know they are not that good but I had been looking for some skunk cories for quite a while now so I figured I'd get them but I didn't think this would happen

The Petco near me gets fish in that aren't in the greatest condition and the ammonia possibly killed them.

But I had done the water change before I added them. Could the sudden change have done it? This is the first time I've ever had something like this happen to me.
I actually was planning to change the stock. Take out the angels, take out the leaf fish, and take out the bristlenose pleco. I have a few 55 gallon tanks I'm setting up so they were gonna go in those.

Did they tell you how long they had them?

No but from how often I'm there I've been able to memorize most of the stock and can tell you when any new fish come in. The fish had been there for about a month.

nice stock that's terrible tho hope u kept the receipt? petco here has good fish // except #truestory sometimes i go there in the AM and the frozen fish food isn't frozen cuz they turn off the power at night lol so i go to the better petco like 2 miles further..but trade them back for more plants. also high nitrate will cause barbel infection on the cory & since they have no scales copper + salt is not good at all. if u ever treated your tank before may still be traces of those stuff still in there. i never kept cats before but i just got word someone is giving me the coolest new catfish as a gift! *when space is ready* so i am just starting to learn about them now too.
