Little question: Is it common for fish hoarders to also be messy pack rats? I know I'd be one if my wife weren't around making me pick things up now and then. And I just met a guy who, well, fits the bill. Nice guy, self-confessed pack rat, honest smile. Like the guy. But his house looks the way mine would if nobody stopped my from setting up tanks. Only enough room for one person to slither from room to room.

I made this thread so people wont have to make threads about little questions they want answered :) They can just post their questions here if they want and members on this forum can answer it for them. If they feel they have to make their own thread they can go right ahead. :)
 
I'd go at least a month on the filters to have a decent culture going in both of them. As long as they're being adequately fed, that is.
 
I'd recommend also splitting the stock from the big tank into it and the smaller tank, so you will not get a crash in either tank when you move the filter back to the smaller tank. Does that make sense? It's hard to explain in text.
