The dark one only messes with the lighter one slightly. The rest of the cichlids don't even bother them.
I think there too young to sex but the lighter one gets dark at times too. They are both really good eaters
 
You should be able to sex them at just about 4"-5". There will be noticeable differences between male and female.

In the mood, their breeding colours are awesome! By then, that is when other cichlids in there should start to be worried.

They will have there own tank by then. I have a tank getting ready for them as we speak. But I want to make sure the tank is stable, I'm a worry wart and do 3-4 water changes a week as is on main tank lol

you don't NEED do, but I respect the safe-guarding. In reality, one 60-90% WC per week is quite acceptable unless you are SERIOUSLY overcrowded or have lousy filtration

Don't know why but I never trusted a 90% water change at once unless it's really needed. I like doing 3 30% a week but that's just my own personal opinion
