Random Puffing?!?!

My Baileyi puffs when it pouts… if she thinks I am going to feed her or something and I do not she will blow up like a balloon for 30 seconds or so….

Also if something is off with the water she will do it….so I normally waste an hour or so each time she does it…. Once for water…found a chunk of crawfish under some driftwood that was jacking up her water.

Probably once a month she will do it…

My Fahaka has never done it… I hope it does not get the bad habit either. I have known people with Fahakas who do blow up when they pout.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:Too funny!

My gsp puffed once when I was cleaning the tank he make a break for it jumped out of the tank and landed on the shelf the tank is on then puffed up and started squeaking...i was freaking out and threw him back in the tank and almost immediately he went back to normal

I sucked my puffer through the hose during maintenance....
Glad he didn't puff that time!lol
He didn't seem to mind.
Supposedly if they puff up in the water no harm is done.
But if they puff up with air you may need to "burp"your puffer....lol

Cool another Baileyi owner!!!
We're a rare breed. My Baileyi has puffed twice in the 6 months I've had it. First time was after it took a chunk out of my finger during water change, I screamed, it puffed. Second was just random, checked params and they were fine, did daily 15% water changes for a week or two because of my paranoia.

Don't scream and show fear when your fish bites you!
He'll come back for you the next time!:screwy:

Mine is a drama queen… She gets upset by a lot of stuff. I know the feeling about doing the waterchanges out of paranoia.

There is a 6” prawn in with her that always out smarts her….she will chase it a couple times a week, every now and then when she gives up she will puff up…

The prawn looses it’s claws about the time it can regrow them… I guess at night it gets too touchy feely and does not understand no means no…. so she removes the claws… very strange relationship.
