I have been contemplating on putting an aquarium in my living room and I have decided that I am finally going to do it. I plan on a 120gallon and my concern is that I have 3 very nice paintingsin the same room and I was wondering if anyone knows if the moisture generated from the aquarium could be harmful to these and maybe I should put the aquarium in another room? Basically I guess I am worried about the humidity. Anyone ever have this same issue? thanks...

i don't think just one 120g will be enough to affect your room. I have more than 120 total gallons, and much more overall footprint in one room. I always check for damage, but have never seen any. Keeping a lid on it helps a lot as well
There should be no effect but to be sure don't hang the paintings over the tank. I have had a mild steel ornament on my 100g tank for the past year and it has shown no sign of rusting. This tank has a wooden slat hood and no glass lids. The ornament has not been varnished or treated in any way to prevent rust and is sitting less than 6" above the water.
Well....looking at things as I do with a slightly differant prespective.....
If the humidity in your living room could be changed enough by an aquarium or 5 to damage a painting then no one in the southern states have a prayer of ever keeping a painting intact.... LOL
Like everyones said...just make sure they are far enough away from the tanks to survive any.......
HEY....OK I just glanced over at our line of tanks on the entry hall wall and realized there are TWO paintings over the tanks....and another one over the aro tank across the room....Hmmmmmmmmmm I guess it's safe....

If they're valuable works of art where even slight changes might devalue them somewhat I wouldn't chance it or at least would run a dehumidifier.
If they're just normal paintings that you enjoy looking at I doubt the humidity will noticeably damage them. Humidity is mostly an issue with very expensive or rare artworks that people want to keep in perfect condition as long as possible to be viewed by future generations or eventually sell. If you have paintings like that in your house you need to be contacting someone that specializes in conserving artwork rather than people on a fish forum lol.
While you may find them beautiful, I doubt the humidity is going to effect their viewability by you personally.
