Nice and fat lol is a good thing.I will eventually get them anyway despite their hiding behavior because I've always liked them.
Out of the 4 that I have. I would say the spotted ones look nicer but not as active like the stripe ones.

I want to get a moon light on my tank so then I can see them at least when they come out at night.
That would work, I think a Blackwater Biotype setup may work also, but most hobbyists don't like tannins in their aquarium lol.
