Raphael Catfish help.

They really are great cats, I have four of them. They do tend to hide a lot as mentioned, but you will notice them moving around more after you turn out the light. Mine love the sinking shrimp pellets, but they also will munch on the wafers and anything else that sinks to the bottom like frozen or live food. They are avid eaters and will overeat if you put too much food in.

my raphael never comes out of hiding lol i only see him in the morning when i turn the lights on and he bolts back into his cave

Is your tank heated? Raphaels are Tropicalfish and require a heated tank.

i keep mine at 80 for my raf. he is very funny, he likes to sit upside down under a rock, they are very active at night but dont get discouraged if you dont ever see it move during the day.

I have 2 myself got both when the were about an inch now they a lil monsters. They hide a lot but I see them at night when I drop shrimp pellets in for them, they go crazy eating them.

Oh shizz, I've forgotten about mine. Haven't seen it for several weeks now since I added a hollowed driftwood. I shook the wood up side down to clean out left over food, and the rope fish came out but didn't see the raf. Umm. No other fish in the tank is big enough to eat it and still live...

Yes the tank is heated it's about 75 degrees.

seem a bit low for a raphel cat. i keep mine around 78 degrees.

I have 1. it took it close to 4 months before i saw it on a regular bases. Very, Very slow growing. I have read it can take them up to 4 years to get full grown.

op i think you'll be ok adding to your tank.

Very very slow growing, mine's only about 9-9.5" after many many years. And he still wouldn't eat a live goldfish or danio, he's more of a bottom scavenger.

got 2 of 11'' and 1 9'' stripped raphaels. No catfish is "safe" as long as the danios are fast, it should be more likely to be fine. They're the one of the most peaceful fish out there as long as you keep the pigs fed you're fine.
