I have 3 of these fish in my 16 galls tank, 1'' each; I heard these fish are peaceful towards each other, but just a few days ago I saw them fighting.:screwy:
I am planning to buy a bigger raphael, about 5'' I think, and perhaps putting them together into a bigger tank, say 30 galls; questions are,
will the bigger one eat the smaller one?
I have 10 corys right now, and if I move them together with the bigger raphael, will the corys get eaten?

No, raphaels can't eat fully grown cories. Well, I've only seen one raphael that could have. They said he was 29 years old and he was as long as a football.
Are you sure you gave them enough hiding spots? Juveniles usually huddle together anyway, but if there is fighting I suspect the only thing it would be over is a hiding spot. If it wasn't over hiding spots, it was likely a short-lived power struggle. Give them a little more time, maybe more caves, and things should calm down. What temp are they at?

thanks for the reply, i think you're right, i've noticed that they are fighting over hiding place, well, i will put some more, the only thing that I'm worry now is that if they ever turn into cannibal over each other specially if there are huge different in size, but thanks for the info

they are territorial as are all catfish. They want the best hole or hide they can find and once they get it they will defend it. I wouldnt call it fighting.

The odds of adult or semi-adult raphaels eating each other are very slim. If one did die of other causes, I'd expect the carcass to get picked at, but they won't kill each other or anything. Good luck and I hope your fish live a few decades for you. Mine is about four years old and he's just hitting six inches. Sloooow growers! :)

thanks, I'm planning to get the big one today, I'll post pict soon
cheers

yes very slow growers indeed. mine is about 2 years old and only 3 1/2 inches! theyll enjoy shrimp pellets with the lights off. Mine loves to lay in a hole dug in the sand underneath a big rock. food drifts into the hole and rolls right down into his mouth:headbang2
