I paid ten for a 9" striped.:naughty:

Lucky you.. i have to wait 5 years for mine to grow.. but it will be worth it. I wonder why the are so cheap at that size knowing how long it takes them to grow...

Any pics of that 9 incher?

idk why they are that cheap, cause i've seen lfs sell like 4 to 5" ones for $30.
I also have a young one that i am trying to grow to that size, but not anywhere close yet.

these are the pics i have. sorry they aren't very good. he hates having his photo taken.

Hi Danscichlids88,
nice cat..the most commonly offered spotted Raphael is Agamyxis pectinifrons, the one you have the in the bag is Acanthadoras spinossisimus, these are more spiney than the former and the base colour isnt quite so black.

Im going to respectfully disagree, she has the Agamyxis pectinifrons. The Acanthadoras spinossisimus is the chocolate rapheal. The chocolate has a large white stripe and has few spots unlike the pic of the one she has. Notice the color of the one she has, its dark with white markings and a chocolate is brown with tan markings. Im 99% sure she has a Agamyxis pectinifrons.

im gonna have to agree on this one

Well lets not fall out here, the one you refer to(Chocolate raphael) with the stripe is Acanthadoras cataphractus, theres 3 species of striped raphael, these are Platydoras costatus shown on this thread and the other one is the Orinocodoras eigenmanni, the one with the sloping head,if you look at the fish in the bag closely that fish is clearly spotted. To be honest it was the fishes head study that gave the game away for me.

hes so cute, i got 2 yesterday from pets at home (uk version of walmart) for £2 because the boy didnt no how much they were so he put them in as the same price a s plecs
