My spotted has started to come out of hiding to grab food lately. Even with the lights on. I drop sinking pellets and bottom feeder tablets near the driftwood and if my hoplo doesnt snatch all of it up the Raph will come out and get it.

my uncle was actually fortunate enough to get a bigger one that hid in his castle, he never saw his either. it seems like the only way to see it would be to someone make it think that its in hiding but really it is not. he was hiding under a treasure chest, but i flipped that to show my gf today and he wasn't there. after much confusion i commenced to flip my pirate ship over and still no luck, however upon further inspection i noticed him in the tiniest space you could imagine him to hide in.

also, when i picked up this little guy the lady told me to avoid sand at all cost because it never settles! haha

I grew my last one really fast on hikari sinking carnivore pellets and algae waffers. Feed at night about 30 min after you turn the lights out

that sounds like a good idea! the only problem would be getting the him out of his hole and to start eating. i think i'm going to put him in my 10 gallon for now just so he's alone and can grow.

i got my spotted raph in a planted 20gal with sand...it hides in the open by a stick that looks like a dead tree in my tank...

if he was in a 10 gallon with no place to hide but he was by himself would he ferak out?

Mine didn't start growing until I moved him to a 75 gallon tank. Best to probably keep him where he's at now. What will probably help you best is making the hiding spots face the front or side of your tank. That way you can see him still. There's a good possibility you may never see him eat but, rest assured, he's pigging out.
