Just wondering if any one else has had problems with keeping these fish healthy. Me and 2 other guys have been through hell with more than just a few of these f0 umbies. Problem from some sort of velvet disease and fin rot, to pink growth ulcerations eventually killing the fish.

Wow...Mine have been doing great :screwy: I've had them since the week Rapps brought them in and I just sold one. So all the ones you and others have picked up have been dying on you? One of the ones I got did have fin rot when he first came in but it eventually went away.

two of mine died, a buddy of mine had two die, two other folks I know bought more than a few, and all had fin rot or worse, although theirs didnt die. So fin rot seems like their weakness.
I have two right now that are doing ok but the male has a pink fleshy growth poking out between a few scales. Not sure what it is.

Damn sorry to hear that. I'm glad that I was able to be successful w/ mine (so far).

Was the pink fleshy growth there right when you got him? Have you tried contacting Rapps about it? The minor fin rot on one of my Umbee was attributed to him being wild caught but again it went away with no medical treatment...just monitoring and good ol water changes.

theyre all wild caught (rapps umbies right now), so I think these guys have weaker immune systems compared to the tank breed ones. After reading what I typed it doesnt make sense, but thats my guess. I never had this problem with umbies (f1s) in the passed, and I was able to grow them over a foot.

umbies in general are prone to all sorts of diseases. you are not alone rambo...

I never had any problems with danny's umbies from moter city cichlids. Maybe I just got lucky, but im paying for it this time around.

It's a risk you take when buying WC animals, one reason I prefer F1s to F0.

Not sure but the fin rots could be due to ammonia burns caused during shipping from excessive waste produce by the fishes.

John what are you currently using to treat the pink fleshy growth?

Mad about cichlids has a good point it could be amonia burns hopefully no mattter what it is its curable please keep us posted
