rare arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ill have to agree with it depending on the local, in Japan Lei's and African Aros were pretty rare, whereas Asians, Silvers, Blacks, and Jars were in just about every store. Now of course in the U.S. Asians are Rare, Silvers are readily available if not locally, then thru a distributor. The others can be found with a little footwork.

I guess to sum it up it depends on legality and demand. Yes within our monster community all aros are in demand but to majority of the consumers who buy fish its probably the opposite. Asians are bred and are readily available in countries where the are legal and in demand.

melanistic aro is the rarest for me :headbang2

i would have to say...the black asian arowana. unlike the black south american, this type (i dont really know if its established as a breedable type) has actual pearly scales with black borders. i have seen pics of it only a couple of times in the net a few years back (couldnt find any more) and i believe it wasnt a camera or photoshop trick. im sure its an oddity, but i believe it the rarest none the less.

second would be the "snake skin" green asian arowana. i believe we have some pics of it somewhere here in MFK. have seen only pics from a single specimen
