Thanks for your input. The fish I posted is not a barramundi at all, but it has been formally described as Nandus andrewi from India, it was a new species.

As for barramundi, Lates calcarifer, that fish is actually found not only in India but all along the oceanic waters of South China to South East Asia as well.

I hear they can get twice that size, and people from back in the days have seen them. I've seen some 14-15" ones myself, the mouth eventually turns upward more like a koi
