the advice given is spot on chaps its upto him if he want to listen or not.
mixing a moonbeam and assam together to me is a disater waiting to happen.

I have 2 bleheri and a gaucho in a 65g and it looks like one of the bleheri and the the gaucho are pairing off is that normal

I know a guy that had that exact mix in a tank,after almost 2 years of peace the gachua slaughtered one and chew up the other bleheri so bad it died a couple of days later.It was a "krabi"gachua btw.
So dont take the peace for granted and keep an eye on them.

I have many tanks and the chance of losing even one of my snakeheads is not something I will entertain as they are well nigh impossible to get here.

I did just add in a huge amount of rocks and other stuff to make a massive amount of hiding places to see if the 2 are really pairing off and to give about 12 various territories as it were.

I don't want to be a highjacker of threads so I won't post ? in here unless the op wants me to.

By the way to the op I would love to see pics of your snakeheads.

Hi, Nice pics of your blerehi, gachua and ornate bichir by the way although i have learnt that the bichir wont mix well with your channas as they need different temperatures. There no problem in posting your pics and questions in my thread btw, it doesnt bother me, here are the pics that you asked for but they are old and i no longer have the Lipor or ornate bichir.

my oh my I have just found my next wanted fish

a blue snakehead that looks snap

so here is a ? am I imagining things or would a gaucho and bleheri cross breed?

They really look like they are doing a mating behaviour taking turns going into a cave and then gaurding the entrance when they come out.

I thought I would add my own expearence to this. I have been keeping Snakeheads of many years now and have tried many things I would not dream of doing again.

Alot of the time you will get away with keeping these fish together if you have the space but you will not get the best out of the fish. Most will hide. When they come out they will fight so you will generally have damaged fins and injuries to deal with and at some point death.

The Pulchra will get consideraby larger than the Blue and will without doubt cause a problem. I have two of the blues and would not risk any damage they are beautiful fish.

On the temperature front there are known issues with keeping Sub tropicals at tropical temps. Although they do have a period of time at tropical temps in there natural environment they don't have this all year through. I have noticed a huge difference in behavour particulaly with my Aurantimaculata at sub temps rather than tropical. Much more active and colourful.

Gachua and Bleheri will not breed.
