I go to a very large lfs in a major city, they have a huge selection with many different species I've never seen anywhere else.
I recently noticed they have a small tank of about 20 mini dragon loaches. Being a loach fan, and having never heard of them, I did some research and the info I found suggest they were endangered?
They are asking $25 a piece (!).
I know a lot of the staff, I would like to mention something to them about not carrying them, but would like more info if anyone has any. I only saw the profile on loaches.com.
I don't know if it will make a difference anyway, but I feel like we have a responsibility as fish keepers to discourage endangered species keeping, when there are so many great species in the hobby already!
Also, maybe discuss the issue?

Photos would be nice. Can you do some spy work for us? ;) That is, if that's actually what you saw.

You might wanna take photos of the establishment too just in case

Yes, that's the one, although they look much smaller in person!
The store actually has a strict no picture taking policy! Weird, right? There are signs all over.
Of course, they aren't heavily staffed during the week, I could go by there today and probably snap a few pictures.

If they are captive bred, they are perfectly legal.

Right?

Well, breeding well known loach species is next to impossible, I'm 99% sure these aren't captive bred.
I don't think they have been officially declared endangered, but from all the info on them they seem to have a VERY limited habitat--like a few streams in a remote location.

Since they aren't a protected species (as far as I know) I don't think there's much you can do. I'm sure they've been shipped to other stores. I read people posting that they've seen them at their local shop, but it doesn't happen often. I have doubts that it's bred. What if you ask the shop owners where they got em?
