I know its hard without a pic i will add one soon but i wanted to try. this eel is about 10-12" very long slender no top fin. it is so unique in coloratio it has a dark velvety looking body. almost looks dark blue extremely darkish blue. it has a white throat. ill tell what its not, its not a ribbon eel, dragon, or any agressive specie as its snout is not pointy nor dragon like. it has a mouth very close to gymnothorax or echidna specie i havent seen teeth. no other markings on body. it supposedly came from fiji and not even the importer knew what it was any ideas? its not a tile by the way. or a green.

I figured since it had no pattern and i said what its not and where its from and head shape it wasnt so hard. ill try for pics asap.

No. thank you though but not a match. imagine a gymnothorax or echidna But all dark body no top fin at all and white throat only at its jaw area not whole underside. i think its a type of snake eel. does anyone have a picture of or own a snake eel thats not the banded kind? Any patterned eels have a juvenile stage where they are one solid dark color?

here is a picture of it...to me it looks like an Echidna, but I originally guessed it was an Uropterygius

could be a species of conger eel. they have shortened snouts

Pretty sure thats a 'freshwater moray'. I used to have one in a salt setup, and it looked identical to that.

Looks freshwater, maybe a relative of the saltwater garden eeels. As far as I know thers only a very small handful of "freshwater morays" and pretty much all arent suited for aquarium life, unless a species only tank, iv kept morays over 2 years now ( a fimbriated moray and my first tesseletta) and still do research on them.

It certainly doesn't look like a Muraenid to me, but I'd need a clearer picture to tell for sure. Does it have pectoral fins?
