Rare oscars spawned

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well they spawned again last night and spawned in front of the slate instead of on it. I think its time to buy a tumbler and do it myself that way. I wonder if siphoning the eggs from the bottom of the pool will be hard on them?

it wont hurt em when i used to move my convict eggs i would use a turkey baster to do it.

I like that idea better, more controlled that way.

yeah it works alot better the only problem is when you squirt em out they tend to go all over the place.

I was thinking i would just squirt them out into an egg tumbler?

I have a pic i could send to someones email from my cell phone of them circling their spawn this morning if someone would be so kind as to post it.

The tumbler would probably contain em.

Im sure trying. I wish it wasnt a crappy cell phone i was taking pics with. They have some very nice coloration. They get so dark and that red on them is pretty vibrant when they get aggressive. Im just waiting on a tumbler to get here so im prepared the next time they spawn.

Well i wasnt sure if my oscars would spawn again with the addition of a 31" silver arow, 21" clown knife and another stingray but the female is laying on her side and not eating again so i may have eggs in the morning again or maybe the next day so i have my fingers crossed. Sadly i havent got a tumbler yet so i may just have to make one of my own. Doesnt appear to look too complicated and i have a lot of spare aquarium equipment laying around i can steal parts from.

You don`t have to have a tumbler. Just put an air stone near the eggs to create a current over them. I always used methyleen blue (not sure about the spelling) to retard fugal growth. I`ve hatched many thousands of cichlid eggs that way. Good luck.
