As far as SHs are concerned, it is illegal to obtain, keep, sell, transfer, or ship any live SH species/subspecies, and it's viable eggs, in the US and its' territories.

However, if you can prove that you caught the fish in GG park, you should be able to get away with claiming that you thought it was a native species and it should be up to authorities to prove otherwise. Any lawyer who cares to confirm?


From my side I can confirm that this is indeed a very nice specimen of the rare Crenicichla Asiata (aka Schlangenkopf).

If this is a "Pike" that was wild caught than the correct thing to do would be to Notify Cali F&G NOW of exactly where it was caught and to surrender the fish immedatly to them..These are a very invasive fish that is regulated for a damn good reason. If you got that thing in the wild I hope you quickly inform F&G of this rather than being an ignorant moron.

Naturally though you people want to play this ignorant and retarded game of calling this a pike..Nice man I hope your happy with your CHANNA....don't play games as people know. Your an idiot for showing this fish in the first place but once was not enough so you do it twice, if you have it, and if it does come to you how it is said, by wild collection, Be a real man and step up. I can see how you could mistaken it for a Channa. In fact many people mistaken Crenicichla Asiata (aka Schlangenkopf) for one when they see it first. But if you were to stick your finger in its anal opening, I am sure an expert like you would immediately know the difference.
