Rare Platinum Arowana ID

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Even if this one is platinum it has PLJ already. On top lets not look at the aro and look at the size of the tank its in, its ridiculous.

Also I see some greens around in the body. I think platinum don't have that. Still a nice fish. Do you have it? How long if you have? What is the tank colors all white? Or is it in a different darker tank.

Yes I've noticed the same green spots you're referring too and I do not have any explanation for them. The Platinum Arowana is not with me as yet. I was caught by some of my supplier's guys but before I bring to the USA. I like to know more as it is not cheap. The tank was very light, it is a small old display tank often used to get good pictures for me to study.

I've noticed from before the glasses are dirty and has some greenish background on the bottom at time. I will ask for better pictures on a darker tank to see the differences. The Platinum Arowana on the link from my original post shows a very dark tank with hardly any lights. I wonder if this will cover all imperfections\color variation on the fish?

Yes this is totally my fault as I asked them for better pictures. This wild caught was removed from its original bigger tank to a much smaller purely for picture taken.

The person didn't know or hasnt seen holding picture tanks before.

Back on topic. As to the powder coat it seems more of a kinda sandy look instead of the shinny look. Could be mistaken on that though. The colors that it is showing would be the tell tail sigh of what it is. In order to show what its true colors are it would have to be in a darker or natural colored tank for several months to get the true colors. I wouldnt pay big money for that one. Look into albinos. They are a cool similar look. As to the plj(protruding lower jaw) I actually think it might have more to do with males vs females. Males need a bigger jaw to hold the eggs. I have now real backing to this but it is my thoughts.

If t wasn't for the bad plj it would really be a beautiful fish. I wouldn't pay top dollar for that defect though. Just my opinion. But if you like the fish go for it.

- Powder Coat color may happen only after they have settled down or it may not happen on this case. The fish was stressed and moved several times until they can make good pictures but definitely something to consider.
- PLJ (protruding lower jaw) A total new terms again, thanks for the explanation. I will do some reading about his, I don't believe is a defect as very few deformations I have witness on wild fish in my last 5 years. It maybe a well indicator or gender as you have mentioned before. This particular pcs is 10" or so
- I do not like Albinos, they are fairly common.

See above reply. It could be an indicator or gender.

Other thoughts?
