Rarely Common

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All dats are pretty uncommon here. Ive only seen a few of them recently and they all were infested with parasites at a less than trustworthy LFS. I wasn't surprised, as I think I have gotten more parasites and deseases from this same store than I have fish.

I had to go to Rhode Island with my friend to pick up our indos a few days ago. We almost died in the Berkshire mountains from fog and rain on the way there at night, but it was worth it. Thanks FunWow!

fire eels, saltwater fish, anything but ghost shrimp, arrows, RTC's, and a bunch of others

Seems that Laps are my vice...I can't seem to find smaller ones even though everyone in SoCal say they're all over the place.

I used to think a lot of stuff was "rare" until I got involved with the local clubs, and met a few breeders and importers. Now I realize you can find anything if you look in the right place.

Asian Aro, a lot of members here have them but they are super rare here since Asian aro is illegal!

I can get just about any tetra, danio, African cichlid or rainbow for a quarter (locally bred), but anything else is obscenely expensive if it's imported at all. Bala sharks are (*$!!) 20-bucks, and clown loaches & BK knives are (*$$#&#&!!) $60!!! How am I supposed to develop a healthy school at 60 per! Thus I started a little business as a pond-developer for the importers permit ;)

There are (reasonably wise) limits on anything that's famously invasive like snakeheads and Cichla, and knee-jerk restrictions on L-series pleco and piranha, but the rest one usually can make an argument for... so let's see how my Fahaka & Asian Aro permit requests go...

I have a lot of trouble finding polys other than senegals unless i ask the store to special order one, other than that if i look often enough we have anything, just gotta get a little lucky
