Why dont we all compile a list of all the rarest fish out there ?. Its great since this
question always comes up once in a while and people would also like this information all in one place. Every section and subsection of this forum will be listed and lets try to come up with the rarest specie for each group.


Heres one under the OTHER MONSTER FISH SECTION

Rarest Polypterus - Polypterus ansorgii . commonly known as Guinean bichir

This polypterus is so rare that even pics of it are hard to obtain. Only three known
museum samples.Its been thought as extinct. Only pic that i can find is from the Aqualog Book Series.

No , Its been thought as extinct. Only 3 museums have preserved pieces.

Guys ... we have bottom dwellers, Cold water, Cichlids, Piranhas, Hybrids, Saltwater and Brackish ( and its subforums ). Do your research and contribute ! :thumbsup:
 
yeah lets try to put scientific names too so we could do more research on it.
